Manufactured by Fairchild Space and Defense Systems this KA-66A High-Speed Aerial Still Picture Camera is a modified KA-60. It scans 180 degrees for photographic assessment of strike mission damage. It has automatic exposure control and a double Dove prism that rotates to provide the 2.25" by 9.40" image format. Takes 70mm by 250 ft. roll film. Angle of view is 41 degrees, 6 seconds by 180 degrees. For unmodified use, needs 28VDC and 115VAC, 400 Hz. Partial manual copy included. KB18 manual copy included. KB18 camera is almost exactly the same inside.
These aerial cameras were mounted on the RF-8A Crusader Fighter/Reconnaissance Jet. This jet first flew on 12/17/1956, but destination period was 1962-present.
These have been in storage and might have been used to take some of the most valuable pics in Navy history. The camera body looks to be in good shape. The camera magazine which holds the film has a couple of dents in the film cartridge area. These dents look like they can be fixed with some light tapping.
