Very similar to the Fuji Photo 6" Focal Length Metrogon lens that we sold out last year. This one does not have the manufacturer's name, but it's a beauty! Metrogon lenses are a 4 element design with very strong curved positive meniscus lens elements covering around a 90 degree field. They are used in aerial cameras for very large format film for the preparation of topographic maps. The 6 inch focal length lens covers at least a 9" x 9" format at f/6.3. Our understanding is that as the center aperture is made smaller (larger f number), the coverage format becomes larger. Some cameras had interchangeable center apertures for different film formats. Metrogon lenses use an anti-vignetting graded-density filter to hold back the central illumination while permitting the whole of the light to reach the edges of the picture area.
Great lens for comet searching. In his book "Star Gazing with Telescope and Camera", George Keene states on page 97 & 98 that the 6" f/6.3 Metrogon produces superb images. It gives point images over 45 X 60 degrees on a 5"X7" film and, when stopped to f/8, will even cover an 8"X10" plate. We understand these also make great projection lenses.
This one is in new condition. Focal length is 6 inches. There is a center aperture but we dont know the f number. It has coated optics and a 117mm clear diameter anti-vignetting filter. These are complete with a 3 mounting hole flange (80mm diameter) and front and back protective lens covers. Assembly is 90mm long and 135mm diameter at the front and 62mm diameter in back. Front and rear lens elements are 45mm diameter. This was a rare find and will sell out fast as did the last ones we had. Unused
