One of our customers provided the following:
"As an FYI, PM1018 is used as the stage 1 filter of an ND:YAG or ND:YLF DPSS laser. You start with pure IR from a laser diode, then excite an ND:YAG crystal to generate 1064nm IR which is then passed through a harmonic doubler (a nonlinear crystal...usually KTP....that literally doubles the frequency of a small portion of the 1064nm light). A second stage then reflects back the 1064 and allows the 532nm green light out (as a green laser beam). All of this takes place in the DPSS resonator cavity...and it is tricky to do (at least without precision assembly machinery). However, with the right optics (like this component) you can convert a 25 W IR Diode Laser into (perhaps) a 1 W 532nm laser (which, by the way, sells for about 20 times the price of a standard IR diode laser)".
